If Waffles Were Like Boys
Part of this complete breakfast!
I loved this manuscript the first time I read it because it’s captured childhood imagination—where every inanimate object could suddenly spring to life and become a player in adventure.
I love too the “If, then” page turns that make this
a blast read aloud. If Waffles Were Like Boys was written by the “waffle-y” amazing Charise Mericle Harper (Cupcake, Just Grace series).
“Harper (Cupcake) offers a series of offbeat similes about the nature of boys. "If waffles were like boys... breakfast would be a BATTLEFIELD! If socks were like boys... laundry baskets would be PIRATE SHIPS!" Matching the whimsy of the comparisons, Magoon's illustrations create simple, inventive interpretations. While not every boy is as rambunctious as those pictured, plenty are, and the rest will appreciate the book's leaps in imagination. Ages 3–6.” — Publisher’s Weekly
